Why Our Prefab Homes Are Gaining In Popularity

Prefab homes offer Kiwis many advantages over more traditional building methods, such as fast build times and improved affordability. Because they are more affordable, prefab homes also make a new build an achievable option for many people.

While the notion of “prebuilt homes” has been associated in the past with a presumption of cheap materials and poor quality, this could not be further from the truth. Modern and more innovative building practices give prebuilt homes a competitive edge, making them an excellent choice in today’s marketplace.

At Able Spaces, quality and innovation are key components of our build process, along with offering a superior level of customer service and extensive customisation options. All these factors make our prefabricated houses an increasingly popular choice with Kiwi home owners. Our premade houses have been delivered as far north as Taupo and even to the South Island and lending is straightforward, with our relationships with Westpac and BNZ.

Prefab homes are not all created equal

While all prefab homes offer a similar construction process, whereby they are built at the factory and transported to site, they differ in many other ways.

Customer Service

Here at Able Spaces, we love getting people into their dream home. Founder and Managing Director, Norma McCarty personally walks clients through each stage of the build process, as she appreciates it is a journey unfamiliar to many people. Dealing directly with Norma means no middlemen or confusing chains of communication and Norma prides herself on being easily contactable by phone or email.

We really do care about our customers satisfaction and whether it’s your primary residence, your bach, a second dwelling, or studio, it’s important to us that you love your Able Spaces home. Take a look at our Google reviews to see what our clients are saying about our prefab homes.

Materials and Quality

Able Spaces premade houses prioritise insulation, airtightness and durability. Unlike many manufacturers of prefab homes, who still favour traditional timber framing, we switched to solid wood panels as these materials offer superior benefits. Solid wooden panels mean you can fix bookshelves, TV brackets, paintings etc. anywhere on your walls, without the need to look for a stud. These interlocking panels are also far stronger and do not require the maintenance involved with easily dented, traditional plasterboard walls.

We constantly review and refine our construction methods with a focus on providing the best quality prefabricated houses at the most affordable price for clients. All our house plans are architecturally designed, with windows intentionally positioned for optimal warmth and light. We also offer the services of an interior designer as part of the build process, which many customers appreciate.

We make a point of offering higher than the standard building code insulation levels, for maximum comfort. Our premade houses are easier to heat and healthier to live in. With inbuilt ventilation, double glazing and above standard insulation, our prefab homes are built to be enjoyed for generations.

Prefab houses

Customers are often surprised at the wide choice of customisation options available, with the ability to change the layout, features, fittings, cladding and colours of their prefabricated homes.

Customisation

We provide a wide range of choice over products and fittings, floor coverings, colour schemes and more. Norma works closely with each and every one of our customers, guiding them through the many options. Take a look at a recent case study, where Katrina and Todd changed “pretty much everything”, from floor coverings and feature walls, to their choice of vanity and shower unit. Here is another first-hand account, from Linda and Justin, whose customisation preferences included an entirely different exterior cladding for their prefab home.
